      thanks uncas.

a quick explanation .... this friend obtained "cce sp" & wanted to try it. that was when i started looking at the "help" & saw where "4:3 to 16:9" selection was suppose to be.
i gather that cce sp doesn't support 4:3 to 16:9, or it's a totally different function ? i didn't even think of looking in "avs", as he only wanted to use cce sp.
to make things worse, he installed all this on his other pc that has no net connected, so he can't even upgrade (not a wise choice).

sorry uncas if i sound lost (coz i am). i've never used this prog as yet & i can't figure why he asked me for help. guess i didn't wanna appear dumb.

i can see why you like using dvd r-b & speak so highly of it. looks like i'm gonna have to start too

this pulldown is being done via avisynth and thus it shouldnt make a difference if you use cce, hc enc, procoder ....

and yes i really like rb a lot

as decent encoders can be used the output quality is very good and still handling is fairly easy

you said your friend *cant upgrade* - what exactly is it he cant upgrade?

he installed them directly to his workhorse pc (no net), & now he doesn't know how to upgrade. i didn't look into it, so i can't tell you much more. maybe he just doesn't know what he's doing. anyway, he's not complaining yet. he also has an old procoder (1.1 i think).
he will yell for help when he needs it (sadly, from me. i just live 2 blocks away)

          many thanks uncas

in order to update rebuilder on a pc with no connection to the internet do as follows:

            1)
run *Reg-RB.exe* on the pc without i-net

            2)
note down the info which *System Identifier* states

            3)
copy/install the rebuilder data to the pc WITH i-net and run *Reg-RB.exe* again and type in the infos from *System Identifier*

            4)
fill in the correct email-ady which was used for registration and click *Get Key File*

this will now lead to the transmission of the keyfile into the (temporary) rebuilder directory

            5)
copy this *.rbk file to the pc without i-net access

            6)
            done

omdg - folks, beware when you offer to help someone

he ended-up bringing his pc to my house (& left it here).
what a mess .... he didn't install any of the encoders (cce or procoder) till after he installed dvd r-b.
his procoder 1.1 doesn't work (no quicktime installed) - i just added it, & that cce "reg rb.exe" file is nowhere to be found.
he also confessed to re-naming & deleting some files & folders coz they never worked (due to some strange errors he can't remember).

his cce 2.70 is the shareware vers.
i managed to do 1 disc with r-b & the logo was near the bottom of screen (cce).

he zipped & backed-up all his needed progs, but now the zips are all faulty (or the whole cd-r is going faulty). to cut a long story short ... i'm gonna tell him to take his pc back asap. too many fishy things (just a feeling).

i just used r-b with procoder, & it's taking forever (his pc is fast), not to mention procoder does 1 file at a time (have 20+ files to do) & seems to do the it's process outside of r-b (cce did it fully within r-b). it will take a week to complete this process

              the things we do

quick question uncas - to use with r-b, is there any difference between "cce basic" & "cce sp" ? (basic is cheaper than sp) - thanks

gave his pc back to him. his hdd was so full of bad sect & it was getting harder to access programs.
when he asked why he had bad sect, i told him to look at all the bumps & dints he had on his case. his reaction - those darn kids !!! so much for a warranty claim
