help- I'm starting a coaster collection!

Everything was fine for the last 6 months. I copied DVDs with no problem.
I was using DVD Cloner lll, doing DVD9 to DVD9, onto Dual layer discs
    media is Fujifilm +R DL.
    I have a LiteOn SOHW 1693S burner.

    Then the problems started....
I burned a couple of discs and just put them on the shelf without checking because I didn't get any error, program just said "burn complete"

I went to play one and it would not even load in my home theatre unit.
Looked at the disc and it was clear that the dics was only half bunrt.
Checked another recent copy. Same problem, this one only had about 1/3 the area showing a burn. Then I found another one, same thing, this one had about 2/3 burnt.

So I started investigating. Checked everything in the FAQs, DMA is on, using good media, etc.
I tried burning a CDROM with the drive and Nero. Came out fine.

SWo next I tried burning with Dycrpter. Nero got almost all the way done then gave a "could not perform end of Disc-at-once"

So next I tried a different approach. I used DVD Shrink and Image Burn and tried to burn a dvd5. Media is Memorex DVD -R. First time it got about half way done and then gave,
""failed to write sectors 1344352-1344383- Write Error"

Tried it again, same problem but got a little further along this time.

I'm out of ideas and I'm tired of making coasters.

anyone have any ideas or know of a test program that i can use to test my burner to make sure it is not the problem.

Try some nice Verbatims...they are on sale often and stay away from the Memorex.

                    well still no luck.
I tried the DVD9 media again, Fujifilm DVD+R DL (RITEK-D01-01)
burned at the slowest speed for these discs, 2.4
goes all the way to the end then I get:
"Finalise Disc Failed! - Reason: Session Fixation Error Writing Lead In"

I'm going to try the DVD5 media again at slowest speed.
                    willl report back

This is total BS, how do these companies get away with selling all this crap media that will not burn. I'm starting to think they do it on purpose, because the movie studios don't want people to copy DVDs. If word starts to get around that it very hard to make a copy, the average guy will stop trying to copy DVD, which is what they want.

well I tried again at lower spped
                        still making coasters.
I'm going to get some better media and try again
but I'm starting to think it is a drive problem, it has not burnt one good disc since this started a few days ago

                          either
the drive is dying, try it in another computer or try another drive in that computer

                          or
you broke the camel's back(hosed the bus) and can try to fix it.

ya, I think it is a drive problem.
Thing is, this drive is only 6 months old and I don't use it that much.
I will see if I can get a replacement.
Gotta wait til the week, I'm leaving on a biz trip.

                            Will report back.

any recommendaions on a good dual layer drive for around $100?

Chewy knows ... listen to him .....

Media needs to be ruled out, what worked before ... media

I was burned coasters recently, not the media, not the drive but a power supply ... never would have gone there without Chewy's (LUK) assistance ..

Swap drives as Chewy suggested .....
