    Subtitles

I have an avi file that I would like to convert to DVD. While playing the avi file, there are no subtitles. Does this mean that they r not available? If they r available, where r they and how can they be converted?
    Thanks for ur help.

open the avi with virtualdubmod to check under streams>stream list

TMPGEnc 1.6 will not support subs, you'll need 2.0 or dvdlab pro etc.

By TMPGEnc you mean DVD Author, yes? I have TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 for encoding the avi's, but only TMPGEnc 1.6 DVD author.

I have subtitles for a movie that desperately needs them. Is there a way to add the .srt file with VDubMod or TMPGEnc?

right, unless they are embedded in the video stream.

yes, add them with the "add" button in the screenshot above. (vdubmod) that should do it.

Cool. Just ended up using vobsub and re-encoding the movie. Thanks!
