distorted picture in nero 7

Good Afternoon

I am trying to burn an .avi file to a dvd to watch on my dvd player but the picture is distorted, it looks streched. when i view the file through windows media player it looks fine but when i add it to "make your own DVD" project in nero it is unviewable although it does play and the sound is ok.

could anybody help

Usually this is due to the aspect ratio. Use MediaInfo or GSpot to find out what the aspect ratio of the .avi file is. Then check your Nero output with MediaInfo. Also DVD often plays differently on the PC than on a stand-alone. If you can burn erasable then do a test burn and try it on your stand-alone. Something or other to due with pixel width, square pixels and 16x9 flags etc..
