HP 1040d Firmware or crossflashing help

I know this drive has a firmware update of EH25,mine is EH23. I've read about as mcu as I could find about it and crossflashing. Even tried it but I'm not sure I did it right. Last time I did one it made my Phillips DVD into a BENQ writer. ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!

DOES anyone have anything for this drive? I know it's old but it still works...ish. Or be able to tell me why when I try to flash it to a Liteon it still says HP even though it says it was successfull???
