Are you running any kind of firewall? Windows firewall gave me problems with AVG untill I turned it off.

    Edit:
I just found an artical at PC World that states:
One caveat: None of the new versions of Ad-Aware 2007 currently support the Microsoft Vista operating system. Vista-compatible versions of Ad-Aware 2007 are slated for August, the company says.

Hmmmmmmmm I notice SE hasn't had any updates in a while. So I
guess I have to go to 2007 like it or not? Yet another app that was working perfectly in XP and Vista.. If it ain't broke....

From the error dialog you posted it looks like you're getting a General
          Protection Fault(0xD) in a service. That's a bad sign. I think I'd try
to get the software from another source or just pass on that version.
Likely either the software is corrupted, or there's a conflict on your
configuration that they aren't seeing during testing. It's been a while
but usually 0xD fault is a program poking its nose where it doesn't
belong so the processor traps it. If you got it to run you prolly
wouldn't want it to run anyway.

btw I just tried it on my Vista machine. It got all the way through the
Smart Scan and told me I had one tracking cookie. Before I could
click on it to delete the cookie, it popped up an error: "Canvas does
not allow drawing." As soon as I clicked OK the GUI went away!!
            Apparently it's not Aero-Aware!!!

I just tried AVG Anti-Spyware. It installed on Vista and runs.. at least for
the moment. Spybot S & D seems to have no problem with Vista. I've
been running it for weeks without a glitch.

Yep, I sh*t-canned this 2007 version 'and' also just got rid of the SE version and went to Spybot Search and Destroy. That coupled with the AdvancedWindowsCare Pro I got from GiveAwayOfTheDay, I'm set...

i think zona alarm is better than other because of closing all ports. The others effect the speed of running computer and this make me feel crazy !!

Ever try Sunbelt or Comodo? Both as good as ZA IMO.

Comodo as a Free option is far better. Comodo has the best lick test results and it provides a program behaviour control feature which ZA does not provide in a free version. Lastly, if you ever try to uninstall ZA then most probably you are going to have a horrid time on net....unless you clean out all the leftovers of ZA manually or using one cleaner offered by ZA. Comodo never have any such issue.

Last but not the least, Comodo uses far less memory resources in comparision with ZA.

I agree with everything you said src2206. ZA does work well, but is it the best? Seems it was popular and considered the best freebie, but in the past year or two others like Comodo blew right by in quality, speed and safety IMO.

                            Thanks Dan

You are right, ZA was the best freebie to start with Infact, my first third party FW was ZA, but once I discovered Comodo about 2 years back I never looked to anything else except a short [2 days] stint with another known one, Kiero Personal Firewall.

Now, I suggest everyone who come for my suggestion regarding security issues, Comodo Personal Firewall, and they are really happy, not a single complain.

I used ZA for about 2 years was back and it was the "go to" free firewall. Over time had conflicts and security issues that shouldn't be happening on the "best" firewall.

That's when I started looking for alternatives. I know it works just fine for lots of people, just not the best choice for me.

How is Comodo faster?? And ZA doesn't use much resources at all does it??

I see that Comodo won some endorsements from PC Magazine, but what exactly does it do more than ZA?
ZoneAlarm does a fantastic job for me and I'm wondering if Comodo can somehow offer more...you got my attention for sure.
ZA personal also gives you program control...to allow, ask, or deny...so I'm not sure what is meant when you say program behaviour control??
