Hi Miles, sorry I wasn't online last night. I've just downloaded the .zip file however I can't view it in XP since you saved it as .NFO instead of exporting it as a text file. I'll try it in 98 later and see if I can view it.

I just wanted to get dvdshrink to work on the win98! I guess, I'll give up trying and anything new, play on the xp!! Using the win98 is like , "giving a dead man an enema" Thanks for your post,

It can be done, it just takes a clean install and a little extra work.
I find it easier to just optimize the bloated xp, since 98 drivers are
getting so long in the tooth, my xp setups are stable and Fasttttttt!

        Hi,
Taelon, the reason I was unable to export the components file to you as a text file was as follows: About half way through the compilation to the export , the computer gave me a rectangular box error saying can not continue any further and must close down this program. I've tried it several times and always gives that error at the same place and stops. So I looked at the text file, half completed before the error occurred, and it is good until it hits the audio codecs and the cd roms portion of the components. Manually when I run msinfo32, I find the computer has no information to display for these areas and that might be the error that caused it to stop from completing the export .txt file in its entirety. I think you are absolutely right as there is some software\hardware confusion with this computer and the same reason, I'll bet is its failure to run dvdshrink!!! The ironic thing is that all other audio codec, video codecs, dvd, cd, recording and playing seem to not be troubled by this obvious quirk. By the way , I'm using directx 9.0. In view of this, rather than risking the ruination of other programs, ie. computer function, etc., I should take the approach, "if it's not broken don't fix it." I can always run the dvdshrink, dvddecrypter, and the new, shrinkto5 on my Win XP and notwithstanding this quirk, the win98se runs great (faster and less stable than the xp). Let me know what you think and I promise I will give this up and leave you alone!!! I hope you know the sincere appreciation I have for all the time, thought, support, and help you have given me.
        Sincerely,
        Miles
