From computer to HDMI input on TV - ?

I've got a Sony KV-36HS420 TV with an HDMI input. Is there any reason I couldn't run a USB or... I think it's a "1394" connection, out of my comput. and into my HDMI on my monitor for a pure digital video connection (the comput. also does PAL conversion alot better than my stand-alone-player)? I'd obviously also have to run the audio separately.

Anybody got any advice/info about this?

    wondering the same thing

I have a 51" Sony Wega it also has HDMI. From what Ive seen I think you will need a dvi video card, and then run a dvi to HDMI cable to the tv. I have not tried it but I am curious. I would like to know from someone who has done this. I dont know the resolution you have to use on the PC and I dont know if you have to do anything to the settings on the tv???

I need to know some pros and cons before I do it, I dont want to damage the tv
