Sorry if this is not the right place to post, but I could not find a hardware forum. I have a NEC ND-2500A burner, and I aborted a burn while using dvd decryptor (I started to burn the wrong iso image, didn't want to wait for it to finish a disc I didn't need.) The burner just hung, and I had to power off the computer. Now the computer will not recognize any dvd's put in the drive, including commericial bought DVD's. It justs shows the read light on, and after a couple of minutes it stops like no disc was in the computer. It will still recognize cd's just fine. This occurs with both Windows XP and dvd decryptor. I think it is a problem with the burner and not windows, as my other dvdrom drive still works fine with reading dvd's.
Steps I have tried to fix the problem.
Boot up from a power off condition.
removing the DVDRW from the device manager and having it find it again
Reflashing the firmware with the most current version.
Any other suggestions before I go buy another DVDRW drive?
