Power Calibration Errors

Hello,

Could someone please help me, lately I have been having tons of problems backing up some of my movies. I am wrecking a lot of disc's and keep getting the same error in the burning process. Whether I use dvd decrypter and then dvd shrink or whether i just use dvd shrink with dvd43. When it comes to the burning i am getting the power calibration errors whether I leave burn speed on max or if I set it to x4 or x2. Any ideas on what I can do, I am sick of wrecking so many discs. Also the one I am having problems with now is 24 season 3 disc 2 but i have been running into this problem on many other movies. thanks.

thanks i will try some of the stuff posted on there and also found some more info regarding power calirbration as well. One thing that I am confused with though is the DMA. When I go to check on my system and I go to the ATI in the device manager and I click on properties, there is no advanced tab to even go to. I am using xp and have sp2 on it.

Does anyone know why I don't have the advanced setting to see whether my computer is set to DMA? Thanks.

dude, I had the same DMA problem about two weeks ago. Long story short, I had to replace my burner. The reason why is because after enough "errors" the DMA gets set to a default and will not let you reset it. (some kinda safty issue with windows). Anyway, the good news is that I had kept the receipt for that burner and it was still under the one year warrenty, so I just took it back to BestBuy and got another new one for free. After that, all my problems went away.

what i can't figure out though is that I am using windows xp and when i go to the device manager and go to the primary channel and to properties i have no advanced setting to even go into.

Does anyone out there know why I don't have access to the advanced settings in the device manager for the primary or secondary channel so I can see if my DMA is on please.

Yeah I am going to the IDE controllers and then clicking on the + and getting to the primary and secondary channels and that is where I don't have an option for advanced settings and I am using xp so it should be there. I have tried most other things to fix my power calibration error and just want to check to see if this is it before I decide that maybe it is my burner that is shot. Although I have only burnt about 300 discs with it. It is a pioneer dvd 108 and it got really good ratings so i would hate to think it is shot already. thanks in advance for your input.

right mouse click on secondary ide channel,
select properties in the drop down menu

Again, are your chipset drivers current? AFAIK, this symptom indicates a reinstall of Windows!

One other point - do you have the intel application accelerator drivers installed? This can also take away the advanced setting tab.

Maybe a Nero Info Tool readout would be useful and also a screenshot of the Device Manager/MSInfo32 readout.

EDIT: To blazes with it - uninstall the channel and reboot. Right click on the secondary and click uninstall.
