1. turn them off
2. uninstall the eye and ear candy
3. uninstall anything you don't really need

or
start all over and reload winodws, but this time leave a lot of the crap
off

Have you tried safe mode? How does it go there? If all well, then do safe mode with networking.

Then, if all well, start windows but only load your ATI video driver. Test again.

Keep on restarting, adding things (e.g your anti virus next) till you find the nasty.

I dont have my ATI card anymore, I am using a GeForce 6200. Safe mode? Will I be able to watch movies and listen to music?

Safe mode is just a test to see if things work with a minimal setup.

If no ATI card, deinstall that driver. That might be conflicting with your current card.

swish, i think you need to realize how important PC maintanence is.

i can gather from your post that you have both windowblinds & stylexp installed, and both running at the same time. they do the same job = conflict!

is it just me, or is norton supposted to have THAT many services running? what did you do, install 5 year's worth of versions?

uninstall all the aol crap as well, and re-install only what you need

also, as blu mentioned, uninstall the ati catalyst drivers, its running 2 services.

but the best solution is to do a clean install, as mentioned above, and install only what you need

mpeg2lib decodes mpeg-2/dvd files. its a codec(maybe even display driver/directx) problem...
