DVD ROM Reading problem

Hi,

New to the forum and not too new to burning dvd's. I have been having a problem lately with my computer not reading the DVD's taht i but into my DVD ROM. I have a HL-DT-STDVD-ROM GDR8162B. I have upgraded my firmware to waht i believe is the newest, but this has not helped my problem. I have also tried cleaning the disc to no avail. Is it something i'm missing or is my hardware just a piece of junk? any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

edit: PS when i put the disc in and open up dvd shrink it just says D:\[NO DISC].

and on dvd decrypter it just doesnt detect anything and i cannot start the backup stage.

is it happen to all disc or just this one, if this is only one you may want to return and get new one

thanks for the quick replies guys! yeah i have upgraded to 0033. but it hasn't seemed to help. i was successful with mr. & mrs. smith. but four brotehrs, dukes of hazzards are not working. thanks for all the help guys... i think it is just a crappy drive, it is not very good.

Try DVDDecrypter>FixVTS> shrink

hey NightTran, I cannot use DVDDecrypter because the disc is not detectable by my ROM. But thanks for trying!!

Does anyone recommend any good internal DVD ROM drives? Any best bang for your buck?

Yes my DVD burner is a HL-DT-STDVDRAM GSA-4082B.

Well LG makes good dvd burners, take the HL-DT-STDVD-ROM GDR8162B
and throw it into the bush. Dvd-rom's, combo's and cd-burners are obsolete.

what's better than a dvd-burner, two dvd-burners!
