    Backing Up Your System Externally

I have been taking a serious look lately at the Maxtor One Touch to back up my system and I just wanted to get any opinions out there on using this system or something similar to do this.I know it is going to be said that RW's are cheaper but the one touch interests me from a rookie point of view in order to have peace of mind that it is done properly.

I have a 300GB external hard disk (Seagate Barracuda in a external enclosure).

I use Arcronis True Image to create a image file of my drive C onto the Seagate. The software creates a bootable CD. This will boot the computer into a windows type environment from DOS. This is called Startup Recovery Manager and works with firewire and USB 2.0 devices. I can read the image and restore drive C if needed.

I sometimes use Norton Ghost 2003 in DOS to write the image to a DVD. True Image needs Nero's InCD to directly write to a DVD.
