any virus/adware/spyware can be prevented with a good firewall & vigilance

yup, those two things have gotten me going 8 years without any virii (with the exception of the blaster worm a few years ago, i was using an older version of my firewall at the time )

i do have anti adware/spyware software installed, but they always come up pretty much empty

but i have seen what they can do very often, a hell of a lot of trouble

I dont see the humor, or the point, why some of the virus'es, etc. are made up. I respect the ability,of the person but you think they but it to better use, but its not a perfect world, guess it be kind of boring if it was.

Mill, there's no humor involved, these guys are in for a business,
to make a buck off of a bunch of internet noobs, sort of like snake
oil salesmen or used car dealers. They are getting real damn good at what they do, even if they are the scum of the earth.

I have been running 6 months on this PC, no AV or spybot or adaware. no firewall except xp sp2 and router nat.

Like you said above alot of the anti scum programs take up alot of resorces. I used to like to use Yahoo chat but to many people there playing games, booter programs and the like. All there doing is putting money in peoples pockets like Norton's

I applied the temporary patch in that link a couple of days ago. Once MS, does something about it. I will uninstall it.

I recommend everybody to do a windows update. MS has finally released a patch to sort out the WMF Exploit problem.
