I did a little research on antennas, seems the upper range is 3 miles when they face each other in pairs.

I think the net could be usefull but as we are landlocked it wouldn't be for me.

My old clunker has only a 1.1 and evertime I plug a newish USB 2 device in (the latest is Firey's mp3 player she got for chrissie) it warns me there is a faster way of transferring data.

blu, go into device manager and update your usb drivers. let windows find them automatically

since the usb1 adapter is wireless B , 11Mbit/s, usb1 does 900KB/s which
is real close to the same, and the broadband is 1.5Mb/s (1/7 of the adapter and usb1 speed)
for 20$ there is balance in the force

But it's only a USB 1.1 port anon. Machine is 4 years old.

an amd 1700 usually comes on a mobo with usb1 only.

@chewy: true the bandwidth fits, 11mbps (though you'll rarely get it that high ) while usb 1.1 does 12mbps. but i still don't like the sound of it!

Yeah - I tried to update the drivers for the roothub and it said the wizard couldn't proceed. Tuff luck 4 me.
