    Dual-layer burners

I have been backing up my dvd's for a while now and my old burner just died. So I went out and got a dual layer burner. Can anyone tell me how to use it?

As previously said by Chewy, just use it the same way. The only difference now is that you won't get a error message when trying to burn to "Dual Layer" blank media.

Would you guys say DL is worth it?? I have a dual layer but have not used a dual layer disc as the price is kinda high still..besides the obvious space bonus is there anyother good reason to use them?

          pros: twice as big(almost)

          cons 6-10x the expense
          slower to burn
          100x easier to screw up
          poorer quality than SL

Seeing the Cons, why not divide the disk into 2 and burn on 2 SL DVD!!!, if required.

You know, I have personally never split to 2 SL disc's. I have never used DL disc's either.

1 have 8 dl's lying wasted without being used cause iv used two and get disappointed...... both my dvd players dont play it perfectly, philips does play it better but not smoothly as SL disks.
and the price is {in Rupees} 700 for DL, 80 - 150 for SL depends on what brand, and 30 - 50 for cheap unbranded ones that also works fine at low speeds.
                  [US 1$ = 60 Rs]
Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!

I just use the sl and if it doesn't fit I just shrink it again...I just backed up CSI Season one which is on 6 discs was able to get it down to 3 by reauthoring them...video quality is still pretty good as well...

I followed blutach's guide and completed my first successful one a little while ago and if it even plays in my daughter's old style PS2 that's got to be worth something.I think I would have done another one with DvdD iso read & write but if you forget that last step before burn you pretty well have something to put your cup on.I don't think I would do it all the time but if I have a special back-up then I would do it again.Casey that was how to burn dual layer with PgcEdit check out blutach's signature.

Checking a burn in a ps2 maybe, but I am not encouraging anyone
to try dual layer burning, still way to go soup and I am sure Blutach
had a hand in this also.
