    Best new anti malware

"Three software programmers from Erlangen, Germany, with an average age of 20, launched ewido networks last year with the motto "keep it simple". Their aim was to make their software simple to operate and easy to obtain over the Internet."

I was running windows as a repair disk on a computer that had been protected by spybot/norton's security suite and way too many other things.
When I finally got control of the computer I ran spybot and cleansed,
but saw a post in another forum, downloaded EWIDO and ran, there were
19 other problems and even a coolwebsearch component that cwshredder
missed. Free trial and a hell of a computer check up.
I was very impressed, even cleaned a few bad cookies I had on my own machine.
no registration or email crud to use

Since it quarentened everything should I go through them one by and one and decide if I should get rid of them? The last time I did something like that (with X cleaner) I deleted something called back web which was for windows updates...so know am I ok to leave them in quarentine?

It's ok to leave in quarantine, I went over mine and deleted all, they all looked bad, one temp file especially, what was neat was all my regular cookies
still work. You know something's going on when you visit a web site and your toolbar fills with popups, the sp2 seems to keep them under control.

Mine is XP SP1 x64 but it has everything SP2 does, it does a good job with the built in pop-up blocker. I set mine to block all pop-up's and then i just let the ones i wan't through with the CTRL key.
The antivirus i use is the Avast Antivirus. I found it to be really good. It is completely free, exept you have to register with avast but once you register they do not send unwanted emails.
It keeps itself updated, you can tell it to run a scan on boot up, several different options while in windows, quick scan, normal scan, thorough Scan etc...
you can get it from here if you want:

i ran it, it found 3 "spyware" cookies, which ad-aware/spybot always detect, cause they replace themselves pretty much each time i use the net

other than that, got a false alarm for a "shutdown.exe" in one of my rar files, said it was a trojan. i do like the program though, great design/interface, will be keeping it
