I'm running a RAID 5 array that's why I like the O&O defrag, tons more options and you can set the max % of CPU resources it uses so if you need to do something else minor you can or just pause it. Plus it handles the 3 [drives] attached to this comp. The scheduling options are great too.

well fellas i did the scan disc which took forever, and defragged again. it still looks like the image i posted.
next time do a disk cleanup, lose all temp internet.
reboot, shut down all background apps then defrag
isn't there some data you can move to another drive?

OK guys here's what I do to make defrag quick and painless. All the bells and whistles, smoke and mirrors won't take the place of this.
        A small system partition.

and it's been up and running for almost a year, surfing, newsgrouping, betatesting, no antispyware,
no active anti virus, and I will reload soon and retire it for resale.

Finally got around to doing this. i don't have much time lately for much of anything. but this pc is good and clean now. compared to post #1's screenshot, it's night and day
this pc hasn't been this clean since the day i got it.

they usually aren't defragged when you get them

I would have partitioned that large physical drive so I could leave data on a seperate logical drive. Wookie thing, that way you don't have to defrag
a hundred gigs of data to defrag system files

that's why it took 8 defrags to get it done. no way in hell i'm formatting. i'll format only when i get a virus and am forced to. it's running great, so according to my standards it's better than new. thought it was too far gone.

just off load all permanent data to dvd and other hard drives then only put temp data on drive with system files, every so often burn off all temp data and then defrag

Hey guys, this is what happens when you decrypt, multishrink, delete originals, repeat 5 times

I guess I will defrag before burning

I never set windows up on a partition larger than 20 gigs and never leave any
sizable data on the C drive, defrag never takes more than 10 minutes.
Every blue moon I defrag a data partition, usually it's faster to off load the data to another drive then reload it.

One of my data drives(60 gigs of digitized karaoke/master backup and 60 gigs
of temp movie files) never defragged
