Forgot what the brand is but it's a 500w 12v single rail, full 24pin w/ the extra 4 or 6 pin connector

Yes, dual Xeon's (like in the sig) bus speed is around 204hz and the multiplier is 14x just won't go over 3.1ghz bad stepping on the cpu's

Memory has been voltage modded, upped to 3.65v's

wish there was another computer to check the benq in?

another check, if voltage rails show low values would be to disconnect all nonessential drives and
      try the benq

Memory had been modded, voltage upped to 3.65v's
      that's almost a 1 volt over

I can use my wife's - if she'll let me. I built my wife's as well and reading your beast used the same mobo and maybe even the same chip. Her's is oc'd by 10%

Chewy - the crazy thing is the NEC 3550a is plug n' play and the Benq is not

yep- stock is 2.5v and just not enough to oc

I'm really considering RMAing and getting a refund but would I get another 3550A or what? The OEM, either beige of silver is around $ 39 w/free shipping but I already have a 3550a w/1.05 from Liggy. It book types now

It works great in her PC.

I tore my PC down part way and reconfigured it. Finally got the RAID working, any way just had to get up the nerve to redo it, it was a PITA when first setting up.

The memory boost is only 3.25v and not 3.65v like I thought earlier

Here's an everest of my beast. The important spec's are in bold, heh, heh

thanks for the help and your time

                  sensor reading?

the lock on the pci and agp bus might be flackey.

the 100mghz x4 cpus? will they oc to 133x4 with a higher multiplier?

I'd drop the ram to 166 and sync it with the cpu's at 533?

did you try the benq on the secondary controller as master by itself?

C1 stepping will not go over 3.0ghz no matter what the setting on the multiplier or the FSB , I'm looking for D1 stepping Xeon's, these have been reported to go over 3.1ghz and higher easliy

I'd drop the ram to 166 and sync it with the cpu's at 533? OK, I've wanted to tweak the ram but I don't know what I'm doing here. Any suggestions, pls??

did you try the benq on the secondary controller as master by itself? Yes, it's on there by itself as master and works. Still not sure why, but if I use the Nec and the generic dvd-rom I can rip and burn at the same time. But when I use the Benq to burn - no way, it seems to hog both cpu's

I'll have to get you that when I get home. I was wrong on the single rail- it's a dual 12v rail and I'll have to find another PS with a single 12v rail. I thought I bought the one with the single rail

I would still try getting the cpu's to run a 133/533 and the mem at 166/333, that should put you in specs with that 533 motherboard, then over clock the cpu only with the multiplier and the ram with the cas settings.
Without a lock on the agp and pci bus nothing works right, my asus AV8 southbridge serial controler and a raptor hd, won't keep XP going for long with my 40-45% OC's. The promise controller does fine.

after looking at the manual again, I see you have the cpu's set for 133, since the 100 setting only overclocks fsb to 166

lemon, you are dangerous, from me that's a compliment!

The benq is a much more complicated chipset with a lot of functions and probably doesn't like the pci bus
being so far out of spec.

I am learning a lot here, since you are overclocking a 166 to 200 fsb, the real system OC is only 20%,
that explains why you could even get it to sort of work!

Another note, leave some head room after upping the multiplier, the fsb can probably carry a 5-7% OC
fine, with your ram set for cas 2, performance should be better than now and stable.

don't take the fsb past 180, and take the multipl up to 16 or 17

at 200 you are overclocking the system bus too high, that hurts the ide and raid

The PS is a Power One 500w dual 12v rail

dual 12 volt should be fine, until you see a drop of 10% in one of those rails
