Need info on selecting graphics card???

I know I'm gonna give myself away as a noob at upgrading computers... but I own a Dell E510... I've got all the ram and processor I need, but the video card is lacking something when it comes to higher end games... I know ram come in different chipsets and was trying to find out if video cards fall into the same catagorie.... I'm thinking about a Nvidia GeForce.... something around the 7000 series.... any help would be appreciated...

7600 is "decent", but just how hard core are you?

    i'd go with a 7800GT. currently best price-performance ratio

Right on... that was the video card I had in mind, just needed to hear someone else suggest it I guess.

I'd hate to rain on your Parade but I picked up ATI X800 256Pro from ATI for $179.00 dollars with a 3 year warrantee. Yes it was refurbished but with a 3 year warranty who cares.(I changed spelling, wasn't sure which as right) . I do a lot of flight simulator and this card runs FS2004 which the graphics cranked up perfectedly.
