I have an old Pentium III that I recently installed a used DVD player in. It will play a DVD movie - no problems with device recognition or anything like that - and I can play DVD's from Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, DVDPLAY, etc.
But no matter if it's a DVD that I have bought, or rented, it has the screen to the right too much. In other words, the center of the movie screen is moved to the right so much that it's almost like watching just the left half of the movie.
I have Googled this with no success. I understand that decoders are important, but my question is: Do decoders reside outside of the application? Like drivers? I thought they were integral to the application. And if so, why do I have this SAME problem with the different DVD players I mentioned above?
I've already reviewed settings menus in the different players, and the hardware settings of the DVD ROM device. There's nothing there. I adjusted my monitor resolutions as well - didn't make a difference. The movie screen is still "off center" and moved to the right too much.
Has anyone out there run into this problem before?
(This is Windows XP with the latest versions of Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, etc - all patches applied).
Thanks!
