How do I transfer one 76mb file from the source computer to the receive computer

How do I transfer one 76mb file from the source computer to the receive computer?

The source computer does not have a CD burner to create the file on a CD-R disk. Also, both computers have a very slow dial-up connection at 26.4 kbps so e-mail is also impossible. And, I cannot download the 76mb file from the internet to the receive computer due to dial-up connection of at least 8+ hour and I loose the connection after 60mb of download. The dial-up modem has been tweaked and re-tweeked, but the best I can get is 60mb of download before it disconnects.

Is there a freeware software program that I could transfer the file using the usb ports?

You need a friend with cable DSL and a CD burner! Ask around at the office. Post a sticky on the office bullletin board. You may be surprised who will help you.

If you don't want to get the USB thingie ( they are very handy and getting cheaper all the time) and if you can and the 2nd puter has a CD or DVD burner in it, put it temporarily in the source puter burn it to cd or dvd and then move it back to the 2nd puter. Your dial up so I guess no NIC cards. Also you could take the source drive out put it in the 2nd puter and uses windows to copy it over.

Thats a simplest of way or else use winrar to divide the file into multiple parts and then move them as you like to.

If you have PCI cards in both computers, just use a "cross over" cable to transfer it from one computer to the other.

True techreactor another option for him, if the file won't compress much and if he has a floppy drive 76MB/1.44MB is a buncha floppies. The 256MB to 512MB USB drives can be had for around $20.00 on sale. And jmet suggested the crossover cable method also if he has NIC's installed, If not he's gotta get NIC's and a crossover cable. For about $25.00 he could get a CD Burner for the source machine and for another $15.00 extra get a CD\DVD burner.

It's either gonna be time or money to do it. We gave him a buncha choices.

Thanks, to all of you for your suggestions and guidance. Lots of good ideas.

The choice was to go to a friends house who has a high speed internet connection, and we downloaded the 76mb file to his desktop and then burn the file to a CD-R disk. Then took the CD-R disk to my computer and installed the file.
