I found out about the OEM last evening when I should have been in bed...LOL
But I called the place that installed the Pro 2000 and asked them for the cd so that I can do all of this.....
I was told that I need to delete the old partitian, and that I would not need the pro 2000 cd because they built in a back up onto the pc.
OK sooooooo how do I delete the partitian? I want to wipe the entire system!
In the mean time i will go an research it.

Ok Chewy I took the lazy way out and returned the Xp to Best Buy and sent the pc to a company to have them do it. They were amazing in price and in the past. $90.00 to fix and install the XP Home legally.
But now I have another problem.
Every program that I "Aquired" are now going to me forever to get back installed and tweeked to my liking and best proformance,
But I made a back up cd through the Nero Start Smart and now when I try to open it, it is all encrypted!
therefore all the info/programs, Pictures I needed to reinstall are now unreadable.i tried changing the format so that I could read it in English LOL
but it just changed into a new encrypted page LOL
hahahah women so easy when we get the hang of it then it all goes down hill and we get a new problem!

never ever make folders or documents private with XP(unless you like shooting yourself in the foot)

The contents of an encrypted(private) my documents folder can be easilty backed up by drag and drop into a regular nero data disk. As long as windows is healthy it decrypts the data during the burn.

I've been searching your forum to see if I can find an answer to my dilema and this is the closest I have found. I would appreciate anyone's help on this.
I did a verification on MS for the XP Pro I have on my computer and have found it to be an illegal version. I want to purchase a new one but don't know which way to go. I've been on websites selling OEM legal versions but after reading have found that you can't do upgrades with it.

My question is can I just do do an upgrade since I had Win 98 on the computer before? I have read that you don't have to reinstall Win98 for this just have cd ready to put in when doing verification. Does anyone know if this is the case? I don't want to lose my information so I am trying to do this with miminal disruption if possible.

Has anyone ever done this with success?
                Thanks!

this is what you should have had, kind of pricey, just do a repair disk with it
and activate and use your new number, you'll be good to go.

too late to buy a 99$ home upgrade and try to fix

good side is you can always reinstall 98 on that old computer and take your copy of xp oem and put it on a new computer
