Making an accent key?

I was just wondering, most countries have an "accent key" that when pressed adds accents to vowels.

All I have here is a ` key which is pretty pointless. I was wondering if there was a way to tell Windows that when ` is pressed with a vowel to make an accent over it?

Use the Alt-Numeric Keypad code.

Yes, like that.

I don't see the point of ` or ~ without a letter... can Windows be configured that way?

I guess if you have the language set in your keyboard. I just use the ALT keys

All I know is that é = ALT 0233 because of Pokémon.

It doesn't have to do with language, it has to do with what country you set your keyboard to or something.

Any of the hardware people know if you can configure keys like that? Kind of like how the mouse can be configured?

maybe try remapkey.exe (ms's own tool, made for win95 but should work with 2k/xp) or keytweak (freeware)

You can remap your keys with Microsoft RemapKey from Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools:

Still not sure why you don't simple use this approach:

1. press the ´key
2. press the e key

You then get é

I f you use Word, you can go to Insert menu, then Symbol, which gives a whole slew of letter choices.

Oh yeah, I don't have the reverse accent, just `. Maybe I could turn ~ into the reverse?

Hmmm, I can't seem fo figure out TradeKeys. What file do I open? Somehow they all keep loading in MS Visual Studio.

Well that explains that. I was wondering the same thing when Blu said that about you signature. I now know how you got all those accents.

Alright, I ran the program, but don't see an accent key in the "remap to" section. How does that work?
