    Nero Nightmare

    Hi guys.
I have already seen Nik5330's post on the Nero end-of-disc error and although I have the same problem, I have a different driver, so I decided to sign up and try my luck.
Bear with me though, as I'm a total noob.
Seriously, it does not get more noob than this.
I use an Acer desktop replacement (Acer 1692WLMI) and it comes with its own DVD burner. However, there is only one drive for anything, CD, DVD etc.

I tried to intall firmware updates as suggested by some of you in Nik's post... And other forums... I installed the ATI VGA Driver
6.14.10.6521and also Intel Chipset Driver V6.3.0.1007.

Sadly, I'm still getting this end-of-disc error...

    Please, someone help...?

Just to eliminate your hardware and media, have you tried to burn an image with ImgBurn?

Along with all the other advice you are going to get you might want to do something about this.

            Physical memory : 510MB (522288kB)
            Free physical memory: 52MB (53704kB)

              After much cleaning up...

Hi guys, I noted the RAM wasn't sufficient... I followed the thread Soup provided and cleared up much excess data, including a game editor that must be at least a thousand years old.

              Things are now much better:

              Physical memory : 510MB (522288kB)
              Free physical memory: 193MB (198280kB)

Except that Nero still wouldn't burn my movies <-- nero hitting me on the head

From what I see in the log above you are getting a PCE, which it seems you have already tried updating the frimware. Are you sure you flashed the drive, because everything looks the same, except the error you are getting.

If you are sure you have the latest firmware, then I guess you will have to try different media.

Nevermind the expert is on the case. Chewy when I go to your link I get an empty area, is that the, not a good sign?

yes, and that's the sum total of all acer europe's dvd burner frimwares

                      a big fat Zero!

probably some of the worst laptop burners ever made

Apparently my burner/drive is probably a matsu****a one, according to the log.
Thanks for all the help thus far and I will hope for the best! (waits)

from what I have googled you'll be waiting till He11 freezes,
                          1. try the S firmware which won't work
                          2. rma the drive and ask for an nec
                          3. buy a good external usb drive
