Installed the NEW Cooler finally, check this out:

    Temperatures:
    Motherboard 29 °C (84 °F)
    CPU 24 °C (75 °F)
    WDC WD1600JD-00FYB0 34 °C (93 °F)
    WDC WD1600JD-00FYB0 29 °C (84 °F)
    Seagate ST3250823AS 34 °C (93 °F)
    Seagate ST3250823AS 34 °C (93 °F)

This just surfing around for about 30min after power up, will see what is during a heavly loaded Shrink ... dat tower of fins and 120m fan really did the trick for keeping the CPU cool ....

I also redistributed the power connections on the drives ..... I don't think it was heat related (still glad I cooled that CPU down though) as I had burn failures while cool (not as cool as above), that temp is impressive compared ot what I was getting previously.

Well see how it goes ...... AX

@Ax - just seen this...I gotta stop speed reading the ol brain can't keep up with the eyes since I had laser surgery for scar tissue from cataract surgery Hows that song go "I can see clearly now"

I have a good burner\media\fw combo right now and am doing fine burning at 12X with a QS of 95. I seen it posted that the times between 12X and 16X are not that great so I never really gave it a shot.

        CPU 24 °C (75 °F)

stock idle temps like that are just crying for an overclock, but check them after a 15-30 minute transcode on a hot day

good mount on that heatsinkfan, very good job

@jm ... I have that same problem with the eyes, cept I can't have the surgery ....

          This is funny !!!
          "I can see clearly now"

          @Chewy & jm
Check this out too .... when I went to pull the CPU it was stuck to the heat sink, which was a surprize. The last time I reseated the CPU there was hardly any paste. Well what happen is the heat sink and CPU fell right out of the 478 socket WITHOUT lifting the locking lever, again heat !!! Because of that one of the corner pins got bent. My eyes are so bad I had to get the wife to straighten (fingernail).

Same with reading your previous post, I'm impressed your using a P3 733 to make backup. I have a P3 500 that is now my sons puter thought about upgrading it ...... but by the time you do that might as well build a new box and keep old as a spare ..... I really want an AMD box ... but it now I here Core Duo is the way to go .... I will definetly build a new box for my media center when I finally get my 16:9 big TV .. I'm waiting on the NEW Samsung LED light engine (20k hours lifecycle)

          @Chewy
I might just do that (OC) since the box is well broke in, let's see if I got it stablized first

          To All,
I recommend this cooler.heatsink highly if you have a HOT CPU, and it looks kewl in the box (Iron Cross, Jesse James logo, I'm a decendent of a famous outlaw, not JJ).

Yes the fan weighs next to nothing and it's side mounted and silent.

Most of the weight is at the CPU side so the COG is good.

It uses the standand 478 mounting, for the other sockets it comes with additional hardware and brackets ....

Looks like its settled down, the norm at idle is about 30-31c, 10c lower than the skillet days .....

Edit: Under full load (Shrink, doing max smoothness) didn't go over 38c .... not bad, the memory was hot to the touch though, almost enough where the fingertip is screeming for an ice cube .... LOL !!!!

                    Shuda got this sooner:

The latest is, still Power Reset On (or something like that) in the burn log, , puter freezes, have to soft boot ....

The latest is the ROM's drop out, can't even view in Explorer, reboot. Went to DVDD or ImgBurn a couple of times yesterday and all I saw was the Virtual drive via Daemon .... wanna laugh, but I'm so frustrated #$%^&*@#@ piece of $%^#EW^#

At least it running COOLER !!!!!

I'm pretty sure it was the PS, (know more later, bought the Tester from the link above), I took out 3 of the SATA's and the system responded a lot better (quicker startup/logon).

At post I started getting "CPU Fan Failed", the 120 side mounted fan is runing ... and still getting the post failure msg even after I reduced the load .....

I'm taking everything out of the SuperAlien case and installing it into this:

But with just one SATA's (for now), one burner (NEC 3550A), one reader (Plex 708A)

I'm gonna build a Core 2 Duo (E6400)..... any advice ? For one, what PS to drop in the SuperAlien:

Been reading a lot of the reviews on tomshardware regarding PS's, tough makin a decision, leaning towards this one:

Here the mobo I'm gonna go with:

Any advice is greatly apreicated ..... AX

wait on the new build for some tests on core duo to come in, prices for those cpu's and mobo's will drop in a few weeks.

THX .. Chewy .. EXCELLENT recommendation .... read some reviews, Xbits, Toms hardware, etc .... this PS has very HIGH marks for the price and I found it a little cheap than NE ... $79 shipped, see attached.

BTW: Do you currently own one, or have installed in clients puters ?

too pricey for me or my clients, I was just trying to keep you from spending
                              over a 100$.

we usually limit ourselves to 4 drives per computer

I getting that PS for the FUTURE Conroe setup .... call it AR ... Alien's Rocket ...

I'm gonna give the wife and son the current setup in a different case (think I posted above) minus two drives and that the PS out of the AX case, it still works .... it only fails the BURN if I TAX the CPU with multi-tasking .... plus I will probably reload XP to cleanup, it's been almost five years on that box and it still rock .... I will put this NEW PS in it to see if it resolves the Bus Reset/Burn issue, if not dats OK too as it will ROCK in dat AR box ...

                                THX
