    FireFox 2.0 RC2

    RC2 has been released

    Firefox 2 Release Candidate 2 (RC 2), the latest preview release of the next version of the Firefox browser, is now available for download. Web application developers, our testing community, and users who want to get a sneak peek at the next version of Firefox should download and install this release candidate. Please note that at this time, users should not expect all of their extensions, plugins and themes from previous versions of Firefox to work properly.
    The release notes have a detailed list of what’s new in Firefox 2 RC 2, including:

    * A new theme that updates Firefox’s familiar interface
    * Built in Phishing Protection
    * Enhanced search engine management and search suggestions for Google, Yahoo! and Answers.com
    * Improvements to tabbed browsing, including the ability to re-open recently closed tabs
    * Firefox will resume from where you left off after a system crash or browser restart
    * Better support for previewing and subscribing to Web feeds
    * Inline spell checking in Web forms
    * The ability to create bookmarks with “Live Titles” for Web sites that offer microsummaries
    * New Add-ons manager that simplifies management of extensions and themes.
    * Support for JavaScript 1.7
    * Extended search plugin format
    * Updates to the extension system to provide enhanced security and to allow for easier localization of extensions
    * Support for client-side session and persistent storage
    * Support for SVG text using svg:textPath
    * New Windows installer based on Nullsoft Scriptable Install System

    Firefox 2 Release Candidate 2 also includes several bug fixes resulting directly from feedback obtained from people using our previous release candidate build. Users running Firefox 2 RC 1 will automatically be updated to Firefox 2 Release Candidate 2 through the Software Update feature, and are encouraged to continue submitting feedback and Talkback reports.

              well i'm on 1.5.0.6 right now. seems pretty good so far. for some reason out of the blue IE kept on crashing about 40 times in one night "windows explorer encountered...sorry for the inconvienience" or just closing right out completely a few times. i cleaned this sucker best i could, still have some spyware i can't get anything to remove it. but i've been on this firefox for a while now and it seems it won't do this (touch wood) very good.

              one thing i noticed is if i go to msnbc home page i MUST use IE to play videos. can firefox doit? but that's ok, IE just seems to crash every once in a while on forums especially.

              so far 2 for firefox.

                What kinda games are on MSNBC, are they java? You may need to DL a plugin for firefox to work properly on all sites and you are prompted to do so from time to time...after a few weeks I had no problems on any site that I visited with IE. I've been using Firefox for about 3 years now.

                There are also some nice tune-ups you can do with it to make browsing a little faster:

                As for your spyware, have you ran HJT and let anyone decipher it for you?

                  ty

                  no games, news clips (nbc nightly news with brian williams).

                  and no i haven't tried HJT. i'm going to leave it for now because everything is ok now. this machine had a couple quirks from the start, and i'll just re-format it if and when i can no longer do my daily things

                    For some reason my mind saw games and not videos...I haven't played my XboX in about 8 months, perhaps it's time to dust it off.

                    I acquired some meanies from somewhere on the internet a few months back and got some help with HJT and everythings been peachy keen every since....not a bad choice, but takes as long as reformatting in some instances.

                      well explorer would have crashed about 10 times by now, firefox hasn't screwed up once yet.

                              You said it a2j3, and with a few extentions added on firefox runs like a top.
                              For any IE users, the IE tab extention works perfectly for windows update etc.
