New PC - 512Mb of Corsair 2-3-3-8 goes belly up

The title says it all. Didn't expect that.

PC had been very erratic for a little while. BSODs, verify errors in ImgBurn (that didn't repeat a second time round), spontaneous reboots (and then not being able to load Window$).

Took the offending bank out and we're half a gig lighter but a whole lot happier.

It's 1 month old - I paid A$90 for it, they better replace it!!!

It's just a defect from the manufacturer I guess. Funny, when I bought my previous (now my son's) PC, a bank of RAM went west on that one early on, too.

It is a relief when you find out it's ram, sometimes bad ram makes you think your computer is dying. Kingston Ram is really excellent with their lifetime warrantee, I have replaced stuff with no questions (just a few) asked.

rebuilder and that onboard memory controller are good burn in benchs
