I know what you are saying, Chew! My son was playing Halo online, & I was complaining that everything was so "dark". That was with my old ATI Radeon. (32 mb DDR)

Recently installed ATI All in Wonder/ 256 mb DDR & now the game looks like daylight! What a difference!!!

playing the continual pc componant upgrade game...

GameCubes sell for $99 and all the games that need huge video cards work for free in them (assuming they make it for GC which they do)

I doh'd myself in a similar fashion Chewy, not realizing I needed a minimum GForce 9200 card for my first PC to play one of my games. Pays to read the fine print I guess.

Along the same lines as Katz, when I upgraded to my current pc, transferred the vid card and reinstalled the game, I found another layer of back ground graphics I did not have in the slower pc.

I guess the makers have figured out kids wont settle for two paddles and a square ball........

She's already invested 80-90$ bucks in kid's games that don't play well or at all, after I told her to throw away all the 95/98 lame ones when she upgraded last year. Problem was I couldn't even get into the settings to lame out the damn game. It installs maxed out, stupid sierra programmers.

parents these days should encourage kids to outdoor activities instead of video games and computers IMO.

@chewy: movie based games are very often slapped together to make a quick buck, usually based on a dated engine, crappy graphics and requires very little to run.

                          like I said
also hardware transform and lighting capability and pixel shader support,
the 7500 totally lost the picture

forced reboot, couldn't even read the desktop
