Wireless Network Issue

I just finished networking my 2 home computers using Linksys 2.4 GHz USB wireless router and adapter. no problem with internet connection on either computer, very fast. The issue I have is every time my phone rings the computer using the wireless adapter loses its internet connection and I have to manually ask it to repair itself. Only takes a minute ,but it is bothersome. Phones are cordless and also 2.4 GHz. Anyone ever had this problem?

yes all the time, phones and routers that are friendly to each other are very costly.

ditch the old cheap 2.4 phones and update to the higher bandwidth ones or
keep the phone base station and phones as far away as possible

I would be on a wired connection to a wireless router and whenever we talked on the phone it would kick me off windows update

Thanks Chewy.. I thought the phones being 2.4 GHz might be causing the issue but was hoping I wouldn't have to upgrade them. Never even gave this any thought when purchasing the router kit.

i was warned about stuff like this when i bought my d-link. that's why i chose the wired router. what is an upgrade from a 2.4ghz? i just got a 900mhz!

Yes it is Linksys.. I didn't upgrade to 2.4 0n the phones till afew months ago. I think the newest is 5.8 or something. P.S. Nice Av LT.

see if you can reposition the wireless stuff to get a better signal

yeah i remember when i got mine i had a question so i called the tech support at d-link (which was the best tech support i've seen) and they just asked me to read the numba off the bottom of the little sucker, and he did some computing and said it's the latest. he even said they could flash it for me if i had needed an update. pretty impressive to me.

Firmware checked out O.K. Followed Lt's link and will change channel from 1 to 6 and give that a go when my wife gets through Simming. Thanks for the help people.

Case closed LT. andChewy, switching the channel on router cured the problem.
