If I was you I would go for a second SATA hard drive. This hard drive is mainly used for storing downloaded program, updates, pictures, and video + audio. There would be less time to defrag HDDs. Most external hard drives come with USB-2, Firewire, or both. External hard drive is very handy when you want to tranfer very large file from one PC to another (Ex: your PC to your friend's PC). They are pretty fast though. But I do feel safer to burn movie to DVD from internal hard drive than the external one

    Regards

If I'm reading your question correctly, yes when installing, downloading etc. you will be given the option for C_ drive or any other drive including an external. Floyd fan?

Your siggie only appears in your first posting of a thread. After that it's supressed. And yes, Pink Floyd is awesome. Saw them in 1994 (Not the original band but still as good, imho).

As for external, are you looking to just upgrade, or to have a hard disk that you can move from machine to machine?

                Regards,

usb2 480mbps is like getting 1500mbps from a serial drive, that's burst maxumum of the interface.

                        48MBs usb2 will be like 12MB/s real world transfers(slow)

serial 150MB/s is like 40-60MB/s sustained transfers at best

8MB cache burst will run out of data real quick on usb2

might keep up with an 8x burn, but not a full speed rip
