Strange files in my Windows file

Got on the Pc today to finally download Ripit4me, and found this in my Windows file...

Now I tried to google what these files are and they led me to a Windows update hotfix program to delete all that stuff, this was the source I used...

XP_Remove_Hotfix_Backup.exe - Removes Hotfix Backup files and the Add/Remove Programs Registry entries.

    Version 2.1.6 - 05/29/2004

I ran the program but these files are still there. Does anyone know what they are and how to get rid of them? If I open one of the files, this is what it looks like and they are all different.

    Help Please!

I've got a ton of those on both of my machines as well, never really tried to bother with them.

Actually, my 10 yr old uses this PC. I erased EVERYTHING and reinstalled Windows XP. I didn't like the fact that they looked liked hyperlinks and Norton didn't find them. I still don't know what they were, even google didn't.

I had tried 3 different registry cleaners, spybot, and ad-aware. Nothing found them. I am going to download the CCleaner. Looks to be right up my alley. Thanks everyone!!!

              Thanks Chewy,

So should they stay there? If they are patches for windows, why would you want to uninstall them?

well I am happy with how all my updates are doing so I don't want to
uninstall any of them, they just slow me down by being there

...or delete, that is the question.

Don't seem to have a problem now that they're gone, didn't have a problem when they weren't there. I guess delete is my answer!
