    Corrupted MP3

    This problem drives me nuts.

I recently recorded some stuff off the radio using a program called OpD2d. I set it to record for 99999 MB (basically forever), but it stopped at 255 both times. However it corrupted it too so WMP can't open it, and both Nero and VLC say they are 25 mins.

But it records at 192k, no way it's only 25 mins.

Is there a program like VideoReDo for audio?

    Hi drf,

I noticed in doing a google search; that program (OpD2d) seems to be buggy that way. I record streaming & radio by using Goldwave. (audio editor) I set it in a similar fashion as you did, & then turn my monitor off, come back 8 hrs. later & have one humongous audio file!

It works well for me. It is a shareware program, but it seems to work okay forever, even if you don't purchase it. No annoying ads, spyware, etc. I was doing a lot of audio editing, so I did purchase it eventually.

GoldWave audio editing, recording, and conversions software. VideoMeld multitrack audio and video editing software.

Don't know if this is really what you are looking for, but I thought I would add it anyway for reference.

    cheers, katz

Hmm, does it record as MP3?

What I want to know at this point is how to retrieve the data from OpD2d's MP3 files.

you can save it in virtually any format that you wish; you can lower the quality down to am radio/low bitrate settings for space saving issue, or CD quality, mp3 format, it will do it all...

What I want to know at this point is how to retrieve the data from OpD2d's MP3 files
don't know how to do that, esp. if it is corrupted...

          VBR or CBR?

i do believe it's for VBR audio, but try foobar2k's fix mp3 header function-- though if VLC doesn't play the whole length it's possible the data just isn't there

But 25mins in a 255MB file is insane, what is that other data then?

I will google foobar and download it.

see if audacity will open it; or vbrfix (does the same as foobar2k's fix header function)

if they don't do the trick then i don't think the data is there, use something other than "opd2d" in the future

                      See the attached file, weird.

Maybe I could upload one of the 255MB files to sendspace and you could take a look at it?

If you want to have a good and free record MP3 tool, why don't you try mp3DirectCut?

Thanks for the suggestions guys, but I am looking for a way to fix the MP3, I will try those suggestions.

@ben, is there a time limit like some programs (Nero, OpD2d apparently) have?
