My PC was turned off for about 3 weeks, I turn it on today and play a song on my speakers.. it was making a sort of crackling sound. At first I thought it was my speakers.. but then I plugged in my headphones to both the speakers and the sound card and I got the same crackling sound.. I decided to reinstall my sound card driver. So I uninstalled the driver for my SOUND BLASTER AUDIGY and went to go reinstall it and this message popped up. I tried it with both the original driver that I got on CD and the latest driver online.
I opened up my PC and checked to make sure that the sound card was plugged in properly ect.. and it was. I noticed there was alot of dust on it.. so I cleaned that up with some compressed air. I gave it another try and got the same message. I have no idea what it could be.. here are my computer specs.
Asus K8V Deluxe Motherboard
AMD 3000+
512 Kingston Dual channel ram
Under the device manager my sound card is displayed as "Multimedia Audio Controller"
Any help would be really appreciated.. letme know if you need anymore info.
