Speaking of kids, our club DJ's kept hosing their computer every 2-3 weeks,
I had norton's and spybot full protection running, never could figure out what they were doing to it. Tore it apart twice, checked all hardware, ran every known scan I could, zilch! Last time I was so P. O.'d I locked everything including bios down, they complain a few features of gaming, yahoo, myspace, etc don't work(no active x), I said, Tough Sh!te. Going on 3 months no problems, no virus or malware software either.

Am I interpreting Trend's site correctly? I have to be using their virus scan software to use this patch? I have their spyware program but not any of the virus ones listed. No testing for me??

this part is a free service and an even more complete way to check that you are clean, regular user or not, I wasn't worried about you regulars, you've already been burned and learned.

I tryed to do this program thing, I started it left, came back 30 mins later and it was still running, only problem it was stuck on a movie file i have on my computer, it sat there for twenty minutes doing nothing. Ill give it another go later. Im very curious to find whats on my drive I had a badddd virus and some nasty spyware that i spent 6 hours on the phone with microsoft trying to get rid of, i've been curious if I ever did.

start with a scan of the windows folder, manually exclude large data like movies

Ok, by excluding do you mean just picking the folders one at a time besides the movies and other big ones? Im going to give it a shot right now.

it's a lot better than I thought, a lot of stuff that doesn't need to be running at startup tho.

O20 - Winlogon Notify: WgaLogon - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WgaLogon.dllAppInit_DLLs Registry value autorun
Very few known *good* purposes of this. Norton Cleansweep being the headliner of good items
Loads a .dll into memory when a user logs in. Frequently used by VERY bad hijackers.
                          damn microsoft genuine advantage hijacker!

How do you know what is safe to turn off in start up? Most searches I have done are very vague about this subject.
