E-mail

I just got an new computer an E-machine.The mail server is Outlook Express, it's not recieving mail, I did get a couple of e-mails in 3 days,my other computer,( have a router), got about 30 e-mails in thr same time, the settings are exactly the same, mail.comcast.net & smtp.comcast.net, one gets mail the new one don't, when I send an e-mail to myself it goes through, any ideas?

Did you set the password the same as your other computer?

I know it sounds dumb, but I had to call Roadrunner to have the password reset.

Please call you ISP and work it through with them. They have dedicated people to help you with this.

blooie is right, there is a setting in OE. my isp helped me set it right in about 60 seconds. i think it was under tools>accounts>properties....this is what ISP is for, don't waste your time playing

Unless you specifically set the mail server to retain your e-mail until BOTH machines dl it, the server will delete it when the FIRST one does. So the machine that got the mail... GOT the mail. It's like 2 people in 1 house going to the mailbox. Only one of them can get the mail each day. Tell the other machine to stop checking, and the new machine will be able to get it.

i have the first 2 boxes checked, and 10 days selected. both machines get the mail, and if one deletes it, the other retains it for the 10 days. good system for me.

that's the one, yep. this has to be done on both machines i believe too.

I know when I open mail in outlook express, it saves it in my hard drive. So if you are working on one pc and open your mail, it's stuck in that pc. You will have to forward it to yourself and then open your mail with the other pc if you want it on both of your computers.

both pc's don't get the same mail at the same time for you?

no, it will save it on the hard drive of the first pc that opens it. I keep all my work emails on my work pc. So if I happen to open a work email on my home pc, I will forward it to myself and open it with my work pc.

It's not like having a yahoo mailbox. They store your email so you can get it from any pc in the world.
