    Data Recovery After Format

Hello to all, few days ago I had to format my hard drive dueto some problems with windows, so had to re install a fresh copy. However, I lost my files, at this point I was unable to log on, only in safe mode. So few programms were unable to work in that mode. otherwise I would have backed it up. Anyway, is there a way I can get the files back? which software etc...There is a software but it only recovers those that have been deleted. Can anyone suggest anything.??

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi!

You might have to send the drive off to a data recovery outfit that has the very very expensive hardware to be able to read through a reformat to recover previous data. It wont be cheap either.

A reformat is like re-painting a car, stripping off the old paint and primer right down to the metal surface, then re-primered and re-painted. It may be that the previous data on the HD may not be recoverable, its a 50/50 chance.

    Here..I will fix it!

I had to learn that the hard way. When I lost my hard drive and had to completely replace it, it took me almost two weeks to get back to the point before I lost the hard drive.

Thats why everything is backed-up and rebacked-up every two weeks.

All my executible software programs are on 700mb CD-R disks. All 28 of them.
Acronis software program puts the entire drive on what they call a secure zone. The entire hard drive including the operating system, rebootable folders/files is now on DVD media for complete backup if I should have a minor or major problem with the hard drive. I spend $49. on the software program and minor expense on the CD/DVD media so I could save two weeks of work in the future. Well worth the money spent.

Really? You can actually retrieve data from a formatted drive?

They are right next to the electron microscopes, LT.
But let me warn you, after three nasa grade writing 0's to the hard drive, the residual pattern is gone forever, CLEMINTINE.
