    Questions reguarding FLAC

OK, a friend sent me a song in FLAC and it played fine in WinAmp.

I heard that FLAC was lossless, like WAV. So does that mean I could basically make a "CD ISO" on my computer using FLAC?

Also, how do I rip a CD to FLAC?

And do you reccomend it over WAV or some other lossless format?

I have the FLAC Frontend which allows me to play FLAC through Winamp and such.

But how do I rip as FLAC? I don't see an option in MusicMatch.

And yes MP3s are enough here too, but for some instances I need lossless (editing a song, vocal removing, etc.) because MP3 messes that up (removing lyrics to a WAV sounds better than an MP3 I found)

use EAC, foobar or similar to encode. EAC is probably best in this case

FLAC is really for archiving music, not editing. it'll just slow the process down (more cpu cycles to encode and decode), only use it if you're really short on hard disk space.

wavpack is slightly faster/better compression but less software support, very slim chance of hardware support (whereas portable devices such as ipods can be hacked to play FLAC)
