Java Automatic Update

My computer auto-updated Java to Version 1.5.0_08
When it was done, I noticed in my Control Panel the little coffee cup was missing (Java Control Panel)

I went to java.com and found this:
"If you do not see the coffee cup icon in the Windows Control Panel, you do not have the latest version of the Sun JRE installed on your computer."

I went to java.com and tested for what version was installed on my computer, it says: it was up to date.

So, does anybody know how to get the little coffee cup back in the "Control Panel" ??

did you install google toolbar or desktop?
maybe that's where the coffee cup went?

Nope I did not install google bar and I didnt see a desktop choice.
I tried uninstalling an installing again, and doing a restore, no go either.

I have mine turned off in my startup programs in msconfig so i never see it,

that's just the updater in msconfig

You tried to restart the computer?

I did that update (without that Google bar) and that cup is in my control panel.

@cynthia...yes I rebooted and did a uninstall and reinstall, no cup was the cup there before on yours?

@Chewy...I just spent 90 min with HP chatline, that was fun..I have uninstalled and reinstalled 4 times now..
the new version of java is installed correctly, I just wont have any control over it. (without that icon) not that I really know what to do with it anyhow
It just bugs me when things disappear..

Yes, it was there also before the update.

Just updated mine also and the icon is in the control panel sorry uufta, did you try safemode to see if it shows up there?

Probably some low level conflict, where it interfaces into windows and IE.
What's scary is go into internet options/programs/manage add ons

Try this:

Start → Run → "Control jpicpl32.cpl" (without the "")
