Also for future refrence, when Windows installation asks if you need to install RAID drivers, I can just skip that since I'm not using it?

unless you want to install windows on the drive hooked to the controller,
that's what I do, free my motherboard ide's for optical drives, in your case I would leave my main boot drive master standalone on primary but have 2 other hard drives masters on the card. No hard drives sharing cables.

        Why, is sharing cables bad?

I also had this old old drive that is maybe 5GB that I thought it could be cool to use as an ISO storage drive, so I would have to dual-hook somewhere.

OK I ordered that IDE controller. Should be here in... 3 days?

And I will reformat when I hook that other drive up, my PC has gone mad.

Also, do I need the IDE controller on the top PCI slot to make room for the cords?

Does Windows care if you move them around?

Right now it's video card in top, TV tuner in middle and the bottom is empty, I took out a phone jack thing (Ethernet is in the mobo, that was a phone adapter)

                    phone jack thing
                    called a modem

try the bottom slot for controller

disable unused ethernet etc in bios, if you don't use it, lose it!

The ethernet is on the mobo... I don't wanna take pliers to it.

                      What do you mean disable?

And should I just throw the modem out?

just FYI, tv tuners should be in the slot furthest away from the graphics card, particularly if the graphics card has a fan; will increase signal strength/lower interference

OH so maybe that's why some of my channels like FOX look fuzzy! I even called the company.

                            Thanks!

But, will Windows complain if I just stick it in a different PCI slot? Maybe I should wait til I reformat to do that? (I am going to reformat once I hook up the controller, so I don't have to worry about this frickin spyware).

And about that, all my data is on the other drives as intended, but I would still lose my programs... so I just reinstall those and it's all good?

you are formatting a partition on your hard drive, not bios

when the battery dies then you lose all your settings, or if you flash bios
                                you might lose?
