processor usage at 50% or more...

since iv joined a domain because of new internet signup, everythen and now my cpu goes upto 50% or 60% without doing anything, and i cant see anything in task manager, no process shows using cpu that much, excluding system idle process that obviously always shows 90%+.

when it happens i cant restart i cant shutdown it takes ages so i just power it off and then back on.

it happened 3 times in 24 hrs.

I have the same problem, mine jumps to 90%, it doesnt happen as often though. More like weekly, i've ran through all the perfomance setting too so I dont know whats causing it.

Just a thought, could your system be doing a backup. You know a restore point?

Your operating system (XP) creates automatic restore points, unless you have completely turned off system restore, and are running Acronis at 100%

I would reboot more often, defrag more often, and use a good registry cleaner on your registry and hard drive. Also, remove any unecessary msconfig start-ups, this will increase your performance and resources.

yes i hav turned off sys restore, dont use it. acronis dont go 100% and i do manual backups frm startup not frm windows. uses startup zone f11 thingy

i just wish i could see the process that do this as i cant see this process in task manager using 50% cpu.

Try process explorer from my signature. It gives a very good picture of what your CPU is doing.

something is definitely using the processor so do as suggested and then disable that service.
