    DV as camcorder

I am trying to use my DV camera through the firewire port as a camcorder in Yahoo or Windows Live messenger. The program does not read the camera even though my capture programs do. The helps do not say that it does not support firewire connections. Skype says that they do not support DV cams. I did this a few years ago before XP. Is there a way to use my DV camera without buying a USB camcorder?

That pretty much puts the nail on the coffin.

Once again, that puts the nail on the coffin.

Sony has a USB/Firewire cable but it only works with the Sony DV cam software that comes with the camera when you buy it. However that wont make the camera become recognized by the program your trying to use.

Maybe investing in a cheap webbiecam?

    Here..I will fix it!

        Hello.

What is the best software for capturing and editing? I use CyberLink Power Producer that I got free with my DV camcorder and I'm pleased with the software, however, I'm curious to know if there's anything better? I tried some Ulead demo ones but I found some of them rather awkward.

        Many thanks.

        Darren.

Sorry, I meant I use CyberLink Power Director, CyberLink Power Producer is the rest of the package for menu creating and burning.
