Sound like from behind snare drum/picture stutters then hangs

Any ideas on that problem? DMA enabled. Sound drivers reloaded.
Sound problem is with all sounds, wav, movies, system, whatever. All symptoms on all media: hard disk, cd rom, movies, you tube, whatever. Ample resources, tons of memory and cpu power. Definitely not speakers. They work fine on laptop. Help anyone? Dave

Howdy!

Could be something wrong with the hardware instead of drivers and software. Not meaning your memory or HD or CPU, but related to the sound card or sound system within the mobo if your pc is equipped with integrated sound system.

Thanks for your insight Mr. Burns. Actually there is an onboard sound system that could conflict with my sound card but the drivers for it are not installed. Also that would not explain the video hanging. It even hangs when I play a movie that's installed on my hard drive...and that's cross platform. I have several players and they all show the same problem. It seems to be quite the mystery. Thanks for your input nonetheless..and regards..

I should also mention my sound card is 4 months old. That doesnt mean it can't be malfunctioning but it would make that less likely. Regards..
