My recommendation is to double check all of your connections/cables. Sounds to me like something came loose or something.

the protection on the thermaltake may be sensitive to a slow short, leave all the non-essential drives unplugged

yea i already thought about that to the only thing plugged in is the hard drive 20 pin and the 4 pin next to it

also that is the only thing that i have plugged in while running my old ps unit no optical drives or fans notta zip nothing

also why will it boot up my friends compaq just fine on the first try?? and whats with the slight buzzing ??

Try a different brand/model power supply.

doublecheck all the wires going into the main plug(mobo) and the 4 wire plug.

maybe one isn't making a good connection?

never run into this problem, anything about the sony ps that's different?

only thing i can tell is that on the 4 pin theres
                      black yellow
                      black yellow

the new ps 4pin looks like this
                      orange black
                      yellow red

should it be 2 blacks and 2 yellows ??

well guys the new ps has the 20 pin and that orange and black 4pin connected together and with the same sleeve so i figured since the plugs were connected and the females ends were right there together they went NOPE there was another 4 plug individual wire same colors as the old sony one plugged it in and fired right up . HOWEVER, that 4pin is just sitting there not plugged in to anything and its WAY to short to reach the other 4 pin plug which i am assuming is for my pci express which by the way since i got this new graphics card always says no signal between boot screens !!
