Avi file problem

Im trying toplay a file that requires the following codecs:

Video: DivX 5.0
Audio: 0x0055(MP3) IDâ€™d as MPEG-1 Layer 3

I installed DIVX 5 for the video codecs, DivX Anti-freeze and avidefreezer. But the video keeps freezing AND the sound and video are not synchronized. What is the best codec to install for the file or how can the freezing be stopped.

i have divx 5.21 and the fraunhoffer MP3 codec. media player classic for playback.
