    Firefox Update ?'s

I don't know if this is happening to anybody else?

Why when you install the new version Firefox 2.0, it doesn't overwrite or update version 1.5.0.7? I installed a few days ago & had to check my Add/Remove programs yesterday for some other crap, there they both where or so I thought! I figured hey, I will just remove 1.5.0.7, wrong, it removed Firefox completely. My new external hard drive just paid for itself because I was able to restore with all my settings. So I uninstalled 2.0.

Why when you go to Firefox browser / Help / Check For Updates, it says there are none. The entire planet knows that 2,0 is sitting there but it's own browser won't recognize it? Just colour me puzzled?

Ver: 2 overwrites 1.5. in the same directory. Seeing that ver: 2 was a full install and not an upgrade or patch for 1.5 it didn't remove the 1.5 listed in add-remove programs. So when you creamed 1.5 it creamed 2 at the same time.
As for updates for 2, none yet. They released it in working order not like what Microsoft does with there crap.

Thanks for the reply Abuilder & you are right it creamed it good, it was gone. I wasn't looking for updates to 2.0, what I did is I went back to 1.5.0.7 figuring if it was brought in as an update it would overwrite. I can tell from your answer that is not going to happen because it is a full version. So now I am thinking if I uninstall 1.5.0.7 (which I have backed up) then install 2.0, then restore 1.5.0.7 in to program files / Mozilla Firefox it should insert my bookmarks & settings in to 2.0? Is my logic out to lunch?

I don't think restoring a backup of 1.5 will get your bookmarks back because they are stored in the Windows directory (folder) and not in the Mozilla Foxfire program folder.
        Foxfire bookmarks are stored here:
        C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

I installed 2.0 beta and was having problems opening .pdf files. I was directed to install Firefox 2.0 again. The request came from Microsoft as the program hung up and the box said Mozilla Firefox knew of the problem and recommended a new install. I downloaded it again and installed it and have had no further problems.

Thanks I guess that wasn't removed, that is why when I restored & clicked the Firefox exe everything was still there. It is clear now.

Edit: solution to first question, uninstall old version & install new version. Just in case make sure you have a backup or restore point created.

I just installed 1.8.0.3 and it seems to crash when I use the mouse gestures (back function) and foxy tunes is running. Anyone else had this issue?
