The problem is do you mess the computer up with updates or take your chances with the internet hosing it

Well in one of my forum duties I went to what I considered a spam site and
surfed around, my computer has been acting funny ever since.

norton's and trojan hunter came up clean, but spybot hit the motherload, seems last months trojans have morphed into malware that flies under the radar and exploits vulnerabilities in IE.

one of the client computers I had fixed last month(no repair disk) is getting pop ups again, internet is getting more and more dangerous

@Chewy - how did it work out? does it contain all the updates?

@browneye - Thanks for the info!

finally, enough of this penguin hijack!

well I went over and started working on the bookkeepers computer tonight

ran spybot, found a few things, reran trojan hunter from regular and safe mode, worst than the first time weeks ago

then applied the full november autopatch but went for defender also not just critical updates, windows was just about on it's last legs, was taking 10 minutes to boot

defender found the culprit and everything started working

damn net 3 update is something I will pass on next time

While we watch Vista users struggle on a daily basis...

Any word on another official Service Pack for XP? I know the oem's will stop being produced this year, so time is running out, lol.

Then all the attention will go towards getting all those Vista patches ready to go!

MS has pushed SP3 for XP back a few times already, why fix XP when you can just buy Vista?

Maybe in a year or so, according to this.

W.O.W.W (Wookie on wacky weed )

I got Vista upgrade for free and won't install Vista

I got all the patches up to February last night. The mirror site had a bad February full but I got it from majorgeeks.

I seen the note for the April thingie too Thanks!

EDIt - the autopatcher site was back up this morning when I tried.

I just turned off defender, it had found one last stray malware

computer seems fine now, just as fast and snappy as ever

the big hassle is going thru all those durn no-critical updates

found several I really needed but 90% don't apply
