I was having a BSOD a whle back that I could not fix. The problem was when I loaded a blank DVD the machine would go blue. I tried everything to no avail. I removed the Lite-On SOHW 1633s then booted the computer. I ran a few tasks then shut it off and re-installed the burner, re-booted and ......success. The simplest solution. I found that suggestion while "gleaning the fields" (looking for tidibits) here.

Well, I was wrong, the BSOD came back. Argh.I wrote down the error codes and found a link that said USB memory devices may be causing the problems. If I load a DVD or CD the and start ImgBurn then the BSOD would happen. If ImgBurn was already running it wouldn't. I unplugged my Dazzle USB Compact Flash eader and loaded a DVD and no BSOD. I have loaded the blank DVD several times now and still no BSOD!!! I am guessing it is the Dazzle USB reader. We'll see.Comment

No, Chewy, I didn't load anything. I did a google search on each of the error codes any ended up at Microsoft. The page said soem computers having problems with USB devices causing a memory error should download a fix they had. I didn't download the fix but tried removing the USB compact flash reader from the computer. When I loaded a blank DVD it then worked fine. I am going to try the reverse in a little while (gotta get the kid from school) to see if I re-create the problem by plugging the USB reader back in. The computer is working fine now. (IT BSOD'ed minutes earlier with the USB reader in, followed by DVD blank insertion)).Comment

I will never buy anything with Dazzle written on it again. I had a USB Dazzle capture device that was poop too. Apparently this Dazzle device is poop too. I have actually posted that here. I forgot this was a Dazzle device. My wife wanted me to leave it connected to the PC all the time so she could download pics easier. I forgot that was the "change" in the norm. I usually had ImgBurn open before I put in a DVD so I never noticed the conflict. I am going to try sticking it back in and see if it happens. It might be that when I reboot the computer with it in it is a different scenario. I'll have to check that variation also. Thanks for your input.Comment

The system event viewer had the codes which led me to Microsoft's website and a generic statement about some USB devices causing a memory problem. I should have googled that a long time ago but I'm getting old and senile.Comment

Well, upon cursory examination of the Dazzle compact flash reader it turns out the last pin inside is broken. My wife, my son or myself must have popped it (probably buy trying to force card in the wrong way). I don't know if that caused the problem but the pin is definitely broken so I am going to purchase a new one and see what happens.Comment

I hope I am not boring anyone with this. I purchased a new card reader (Great Quality is the name on the package) I purchased it locally, the guy said if there were any conflicts he would take it back. Everything is now working great. The DVD loads properly with no BSOD. This has actually been going on for sometime now, I'm happy that it is fixed but I all of a sudden don't trust my computer, I won't turn my back on it now for nuttin'.Comment

Well, guess what, it came back (never left I guess). . I spent the weekend trying everything I could imagine. I decided to uninstall Pinnacle Instand CD/DVD, it has this virtual drive thing I never use, in actuality I never use this program. I have since burned 4 DVD's with no problem. I made two Data CD's, no problem. So I am hoping this is it.
All is well that ends well, everything back to normal. I hate Pinnacle.Comment
