can't install IE7

I'm sure hitting it with a bat is how you feel.

Have you tried to re-install Windows SP2 and then update. Sometimes the install gets corrupted (especially with these registry cleaners that see, so popular).

yes.iv'e tried just about everything i can think of.except a clean install of windows.but that seems a bit drastic just to be able to install a browser.ie6 seems to work ok .as does firefox 2.0.

I didn't say a clean install - just re-install SP2. It's easy.

service pack 2.it came with a recovery disc.not sure about the procedure.

see if there's a repair option for the recovery disk, no point in doing a sp2 reinstall if you can do the whole OS?

Be careful with recovery as some just wipe your whole computer and start over

There's a DL (about 270Mb) of just SP2. That might help.
