viewing copy protected file on computer

i recorded some dvd to my archos 505 recorder and it play fine on the machine, but when i transfer the file to my computer.

i cannot view it, because it say copy protected.

is there a way to fix these copy protected file so i can also view it on the computer?

i know if i were to decrypt & the dvd shrink to my hard drive & burn a clean dvd & then record to the archos the resulting file can be copy back to the computer & be view.

    1. How did you transfer it to your computer
    2. What type of file are they
    3. What program are you attempting to play them in?

    I need more info LOL

i just hook up the archos 505 & it is seen as a external hard drive i then copy it to my computer, i then use one of my many programs from divx player to ati player that came with my computer to tv card & all i see is copy protected material for the video, the audio plays but the video shows the message.

      the archos record .avi file.

archos don't want you to play the recording anywhere else except on their machine.

if i can't get a fix i will return it & teach them a lesson to not put crap product out like that.

thanks in advance for any help you can render.

i tried vlc also, same result.

i think it is similiar to when you buy a tune from apple,

i heard you can play it on your machine, but when you put it on another ipod it does not play.

say, i was going through this forum and someone else asked a similiar question, but no one replied back to him, so does this mean no one out there knows a solution?

or they just don't want to share?

curious on what the moderators think.

well IMO it's more likely that no one has an answer for you rather that not wanting to share. members here always seem to share when they can. very few post archos related questions. we just don't see them often.

it's a grey area, lots of new protection schemes, drm etc and not necessarily
something you want to apply "fair use" to as you don't own the original like with a dvd. I have run accross references to them requiring all digital connections to work, that a analogue removes some protections.

it's all so new I doubt anyone knows much

say, i just downloaded the fairuse4wm program.

it i suppose to move the copy right crap from songs that you buy from apple itune store so that you can play the songs on other devices other then the ipod it was installed on.

anyone know if the program will work on my archos video recording?

heistant to try it would like to see if anyone has use it and the pro and cons.
